Job Overview To join our team, you must be committed to the delivery of a first‑class Administrative Service. The role requires the ability to communicate with members of the public, all staff and health care providers and work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure that our high standard of Outpatient care is maintained. Departments are located in multiple sites across the Trust and staff are required to work across all locations; however, your main base will be at the Freeman Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the organisation of the activity, the deployment and supervision of staff in the outpatient departments, maintaining a level of efficiency to meet the needs of the outpatient service.

This post holder is a member of the outpatient team across the Trust.

The Main Outpatient Department deals with over 280,000 patient appointments per year. We are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic candidate who is an excellent team player, well motivated and capable of working in a busy and challenging environment to join our Outpatient Department.

To assist in the organisation of the activity and the deployment and supervision of staff in the numerous outpatient departments, maintaining a level of efficiency to meet the needs of the outpatient service.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities To support the effective and efficient delivery of a 24‑hour Main Reception service alongside an Outpatient Service across the organisation, ensuring a high standard of customer care and service provision is delivered to all service users.

Person specification Qualifications & Education

NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in relevant subject / equivalent experience

Knowledge & Experience

Knowledge of Policies and Procedures pertaining to OPD

Knowledge of NHS Guidelines

Experience of the functionality of the Patient Administration System (PAS) and eReferral system

Understanding of confidentiality issues

Understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of the Department of Health and Social Care initiatives

Knowledge of Trust policies and procedures

Skills & Abilities

Ability to supervise and train a small staff team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Organisational and leadership skills.

IT Skills which will be assessed as part of the recruitment process.

Ability to use own initiative, unsupervised and as part of a team.
