About the Role
The Lead Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that CNC machined parts and precision components meet strict aerospace and manufacturing quality standards. This position focuses on inspection and compliance within an AS9100 environment, utilizing advanced quality control methods, precision measurement tools, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience with CNC machining processes, quality assurance, and continuous improvement in a high‑precision manufacturing setting. Responsibilities
Perform detailed inspections of CNC machined parts to verify conformance with engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications. Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges to validate tolerances. Maintain accurate inspection reports, documentation, and non‑conformance records in compliance with AS9100 standards. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions. Lead inspection activities, prioritize workloads, and ensure adherence to inspection schedules. Support process improvements by identifying recurring quality issues and contributing to root cause analysis. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors to uphold quality best practices. Qualifications
Proven experience as a quality inspector in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to interpret complex technical drawings. Hands‑on experience working within AS9100 quality management systems in aerospace, defense, or high‑precision industries. Proficiency in precision measurement tools and inspection equipment. Ability to document inspections, analyze results, and maintain compliance with quality procedures. Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Desired Qualifications
Certification or formal training in quality inspection, quality auditing, or quality engineering. Experience with statistical process control (SPC) techniques and data‑driven quality analysis. Familiarity with first article inspection (FAI) per AS9102 requirements. Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
