General Purpose An Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and for general operations and supervision when serving as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

Practicing safety and maintaining a high level of awareness on the sales floor.

Responding to unsafe conditions or practices, reporting them, and ensuring building security (entrance/exit control, EAS devices, cash office, armored carrier pick‑ups).

Removing clutter, ensuring clear egress to emergency exits, and maintaining customer safety through accident prevention and reporting.

Testing fire alarm systems and responding to after‑hours alarms.

Customer Service

Treating all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.

Recognizing associates using the company recognition programs.

Personal and Store Brand

Representing and supporting the company brand and dress code.

Maintaining a clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised store.

Managing daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

Ensuring recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.

Receiving merchandise and processing inbound deliveries.

Organizing stockrooms, supporting floor moves, and ensuring compliance with presentation guidelines.

Assisting with loss reduction and maintaining a secure environment for back‑stock.

Loss Prevention

Executing the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintaining a strong front‑end presence.

Ensuring confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise are safeguarded.

Maintaining the Public View Monitor system and conducting “Code 50” package inspections.

Applying company best practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations

Coaching associates on front‑end procedures and maintaining pace and energy.

Managing register operations, break schedules, and ensuring equipment and supplies are available.

Teaching the “Scan and Bag” best practice and ensuring merchandise salability.

Fitting Rooms

Maintaining cleanliness and compliance of fitting rooms.

Auditing tags and ensuring go‑back compliance for returned items.

Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager

Managing cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.

Overseeing front‑end control, refund approvals, and register security.

Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Special Skills

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Fluency in English.

Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.

Ability to perform basic retail math calculations.

Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Use all store equipment including PDTs, registers, and PCs.

Spend up to 100% of time standing, walking, and moving around the store.

Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.

Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.

Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.

Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 lbs.
