The Water Reclamation Division is seeking highly qualified individuals to fill the positions of an Industrial Electrician I/ II.
Job Descriptions Industrial Electrician I
Installs, troubleshoots and repairs low and medium voltage systems up to 4,160 volts with limited supervision while ensuring safety of the work location.
In accordance with the manufacturers’ specifications, performs electrical preventative maintenance on motors which may require the removal of hot oils, greases and other liquids. Refills or replaces all items to maintain the integrity of the electric motors and the related equipment.
Calibrates and maintains controls and process instruments and other instruments using a 4-20ma control signal.
Maintains arc flash compliance following safety protocols in a live environment.
Performs troubleshooting and maintenance for all levels of infrastructure in water/water reclamation plants and lift station operation. Works with mechanical and electrical equipment such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), fuses, breakers and contactors.
Troubleshoots control systems equipped with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) using ladder logic diagrams and electrical schematics. Uses technical manuals and prints to isolate and repair control systems.
Interprets and understands Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) / PLC logic which involves reading and understanding data trends used in troubleshooting equipment.
Utilizes a work order management system to capture and record electrical failures, views historical data, report time and resources expended to complete work orders.
Assists other staff with low voltage wiring while installing lights, switches and other low voltage equipment required for the maintenance of a safe working area or restoration of communications systems.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Industrial Electrician II
Performs skilled electrical repairs and preventative maintenance duties in an industrial plant environment, major building complex, or water/water reclamation field. Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs new and existing controls and instrumentation as needed to upgrade and update equipment including incoming electrical services. Tests motors, generators, lighting and power distribution systems. Troubleshoots and repairs variable frequency drives and other motor controls. Supervises other technicians/electricians in the repair and maintenance of process equipment and/or building support systems.
Work is performed under the general direction of a higher level supervisor. Performance is reviewed through inspections, reports, meetings and results achieved.
Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs: controls and heavy industrial electrical equipment including drives, generators, up to 12,500 volt power distribution equipment; large horsepower motors up to 1,000 HP; lift stations, water/reclaimed water plants and facilities working with mechanical and electrical equipment such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), fuses, breakers and contactors; control systems equipped with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) using ladder logic diagrams and electrical schematics.
Supervises, trains and participates in the installation of low and medium voltage wiring, lights, switches and equipment required to maintain a safe working area or for the restoration of communications systems.
Manages arc flash compliance programs and safety protocols in a live environment.
Operates, maintains, updates and repairs sophisticated electrical power distribution controls.
Performs electrical preventative maintenance on motors in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, which may require the removal of hot oils, greases and other liquids. Refills or replaces all items to maintain the integrity of the electric motors and the related equipment.
Oversees the proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Ensures and promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Interprets Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) / PLC logic which involves reading and understanding logic and data trends used in troubleshooting equipment.
Utilizes a work order management system to capture and record electrical failures, views historical data, report time and resources expended to complete work orders.
Prepares detailed scope of work requirements for work requiring utilization of outside contractors.
Provides review and input of term contracts for UP systems, electrical maintenance, repair, testing and diagnostic services as well as electrical related projects, schematics, plans and drawings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Industrial Electrician I
State certified or State registered with Orange County as a Journeyman Electrician, or
Six (6) years of technical electrical work experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
Six (6) years of training and graduation from a vocational school or program may be substituted for six (6) years of experience.
An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Preferences
State certified or State registered with Orange County as a Journeyman Electrician.
Industrial Electrician II
State certified or State registered with Orange County as a Master Electrician.
Eight (8) years of technical electrical work experience in a commercial or industrial environment.
Six (6) years of training and graduation from a vocational school or program may be substituted for six (6) years of experience.
An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
State certified or State registered with Orange County as a Master Electrician.
Preferences
Medium voltage electrical work experience.
Familiar with and utilized the National Electrical Code (NEC) standards associated with motors and generators.
Experience in water, wastewater or industrial operations and processes.
Familiarity with local Orange County electrical codes.
Ability to perform in confined spaces and use safety equipment including respirator equipment.
