SUMMARY
The Mechanical Engineer works with the internal Brawn Mixer Sales and Applications teams to design industrial mixing solutions. They research and design features involving mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic functions. They help coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of liquid mixing equipment by performing the following duties.
The successful candidate will be authorized to lawfully work in the United States and will not require visa sponsorship now, or in the future.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Communicate regularly with inside sales representatives and project management to collect relevant tank and process fluid information. Design mixing solutions suitable to customers’ processes, ensuring proper agitation and mechanical reliability. Utilizing knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences while using 3D design software (SolidWorks). Work with purchasing and external vendors to source special materials and components as needed. Collaborate with inside sales, Application Engineering & manufacturing teams to develop appropriate lead times, efficient designs, and to resolve quality issues. Provide technical support to internal and external customers on general liquid mixing principles, power and flow characteristics, mixer design features, and troubleshooting. Design equipment layouts, and prepare assembly models, approval prints, detailed drawings, and pneumatic & hydraulic schematics. Analyze equipment specifications & performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities & methods, and current design standards. Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing equipment considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, fabrication methods, and other technical and economic factors. Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to validate designs (Solidworks Simulation and Solidworks Flow Simulation). Evaluate field installations and recommends design modifications to facilitate continuous improvement as needed. Evaluate fit, form, and function of equipment design relative to integration with adjacent equipment, electrical components, etc. Evaluate performance & design of equipment and conformity to applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards as required for the application (ANSI, OSHA, etc). EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BSME or similar) or Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school, or a minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training required. Excellent mechanical aptitude is required. Strong understanding of GD&T is required. Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling program is required. What’s in it for you?
