Tax Manager, Family Office (Ptshp & UHNW Tax)
Base pay range
$125,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr
The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing tax compliance, implementing tax‑efficient structures, and coordinating with external advisors to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across a complex ownership structure. This role offers a unique blend of hands‑on tax work and strategic oversight across both personal and corporate entities.
The ideal candidate has experience in partnerships, S‑corporations, trusts, and individual taxation, and is comfortable working in a dynamic environment that blends family office and corporate operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee tax compliance for the family office, operating companies, partnerships, and individual family members.
Manage and review preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns, including estimated payments and extensions.
Coordinate with external CPA firms and advisors on annual filings, audits, and planning projects.
Develop and implement tax‑efficient strategies across investments, real estate, and operating businesses.
Advise on entity structures, M&A transactions, and intercompany arrangements for tax optimization.
Maintain detailed understanding of ownership structures and ensure consistent application of tax principles.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the family’s business and investment interests.
Manage tax provision and reporting processes for operating companies in accordance with GAAP or other relevant standards.
Support estate and gift tax planning, philanthropic activities, and trust administration.
Implement and maintain tax calendar and process controls to ensure timely and accurate filings.
Partner with accounting and finance teams to ensure alignment between tax and financial reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MST strongly preferred.
5‑10 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or private family office environments.
Strong background in partnerships, S‑corporations, and high‑net‑worth individual taxation.
Experience with multi‑entity structures that include both operating companies and investment holdings.
Familiarity with trusts, estates, and philanthropic entities is a strong plus.
Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
High degree of discretion, integrity, and professionalism when handling confidential financial matters.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
