Mechanical Field Service Engineer – Industrial Generators

Responsibilities
Providing Mechanical generator inspection maintenance and repair in line with OEM standards and processes.
Stripping down and rebuild large generators and related equipment; fault find and rectify as necessary and overhaul and clean.
Installing and commissioning of large turbo driven generators, sync condensers, and motors (up to approximately 200 tons) and related equipment onto prepared foundations.
Carrying out mechanical alignment checks, basic Electrical tests and adjustments to machines and complex shaft systems using mechanical, optical and laser based systems. And Electrical test equipment.
Interpreting specifications and technical requirements; prepare method statements and prepared detailed and concise reports for submission to customers. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises.
Undergoing training if necessary to ensure that assistance to winding specialists in carrying out in‑situ winding repairs/rewinds is provided.
Supervising and training customers’ site personnel.
Carrying out an on‑site risk assessment on every assignment and record details thereof on the special form provided.
Qualifications
Have a technical degree from an accredited school and 3+ years of field service experience.
Demonstrate competencies with tooling such as the following: hydraulic tensioners, hydraulic rams, basic hand tools, pneumatic impact drivers, multi‑meters, megger, rigging, generator special tooling, caliper, and precision measurement equipment.
Able and willingness to be prepared and available to travel when called upon and on short notice on a regular basis both domestically and internationally 75% - 85% of the time or as business needs dictate.
