Auditor, Safety, Security, Quality and Environmental

reporting to the

Manager, Internal Safety Security Quality Environmental Audits. This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida. Position Summary: The Auditor, Safety, Security, Quality and Environmental supports the efforts of the Safety, Security, Environment, and Health departments to ensure Corporate and shipboard compliance with applicable International and Flag State regulatory requirements, voluntary standards and company policies. This involves providing audit services to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and its subsidiaries and brands, its ships, offices, and other facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct both shipboard and shore side audits of RCL SQM. Ensure timely implementation of Safety, Quality, and Environmental programs. Verify effective implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental (SQM) system, including requirements of SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL, ISM Code, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISPS. Verify compliance with appropriate Flag and Port State regulations, follow up on prior nonconformities, and evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions. Assist Lead / Senior Auditor in coordinating audit results presentation to shipboard executive committee or shore side management, documenting detailed findings. Provide training to shipboard and shore side staff on Accident Incident Tracking Systems, SQM, Corrective / Preventative Actions, Root Cause Analysis, and Management Systems. Maintain open communications with colleagues and clarify audit findings; communicate critical issues to Lead / Senior Auditor and management. Continuously improve audit protocols, programs, and corporate management system tools. Coordinate travel arrangements and create expense reports. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills: Bachelor's degree from 4-year college/university with minimum three years of audit experience in the maritime industry. Degree from a Maritime Institution, Marine Technical License or related certification preferred. Extensive knowledge of Management Systems and standards including ISO 9001/14000 and 55001. Detailed knowledge of international regulations such as ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL, MLC, ILO, and applicable Flag and Port States. Knowledge/experience in safety, quality and environment auditing techniques. Excellent diplomatic and interpersonal skills for effective communication and negotiation with all levels of management in a diverse environment. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific journals, management system standards, and legal documents. Very strong English writing and communication skills. Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand and walk. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Travel required about 75% of the time.
