Guzman Energy is seeking a highly analytical and detail‑oriented

Senior Settlements Analyst

to support the company’s power market operations, financial settlements, and regulatory compliance functions. Reporting to the Settlements Manager, this role will play a critical part in executing accurate and timely settlements, supporting customer billing, reconciling complex transactions, and improving operational efficiency within the Middle Office. The ideal candidate has strong experience in energy markets, excellent problem‑solving skills, and a drive for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Execute end‑to‑end monthly settlement processes across ISOs/RTOs and bilateral contracts, including invoice validation, payment reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution.

Analyze and interpret market data (e.g., energy imbalance, congestion, losses, ancillary services) to support financial accuracy and operational insight.

Collaborate with Accounting, Risk, and Operations teams to ensure consistency in accruals, variance analysis, and financial reporting.

Billing & Financial Operations

Support preparation and delivery of accurate invoices to customers and counterparties based on settlement data and contractual terms.

Validate billing calculations using internal models, contract logic, and market rules.

Assist in onboarding new customer accounts, setting up billing processes and system inputs.

Data Reconciliation & Process Improvement

Develop and maintain tools and processes to improve data integrity, reduce manual intervention, and enhance settlement accuracy.

Investigate root causes of discrepancies between expected and actual settlement results; recommend and implement solutions.

Support internal audits and reporting processes with thorough documentation and data validation.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner with Legal, Trading, Origination, and Finance to ensure end‑to‑end operational alignment from contract execution to cash settlement.

Assist in projects to automate reporting, improve systems (e.g., ERP, billing, data analytics), and scale operations.

Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, process documentation, and best‑practice development.

Provide mentorship to junior analysts and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performance team culture.

Act as a subject‑matter resource for internal teams on settlement mechanics, data flows, and market rules.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Energy Systems, or a related field.

4+ years of experience in ISO/RTO settlements, energy billing, or energy market operations.

Familiarity with ISO markets (e.g., CAISO, ERCOT, SPP) and bilateral power contracts.

Strong analytical and data management skills, including Excel, SQL, or Python.

Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to explain complex issues to non‑technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with settlements systems, ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite), or custom reconciliation tools.

Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (FERC, NERC) and environmental programs (e.g., WREGIS, CRS).

Familiarity with energy trading, power scheduling, or physical delivery operations.

Process improvement or project management experience in a dynamic, growing organization.
