AWS Marketplace is a digital catalog connecting millions of AWS customers with thousands of independent software vendors and consulting partners, offering software, data, and services across critical categories such as security, networking, storage, machine learning, business intelligence, and DevOps. As a rapidly growing platform, it processes millions of transactions and thousands of seller accounts worldwide, making robust financial governance and compliance critical. As AWS Marketplace FinOps Lead, Controllership, you will own the monitoring, reconciliation, and oversight of seller payables and receivables. You will serve as the single-threaded owner for Marketplace financial operations, ensuring robust controls, accurate reconciliations, and compliance with SOX requirements. This is a high-impact, operationally focused role where you will identify, investigate, and resolve defects, exceptions, and transaction issues, while coordinating cross-functionally across Finance, Accounting, Payments, and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and resolve negative or aged seller payable balances and disbursement issues

Perform detailed reconciliation reporting for invoices and transactions

Lead month‑end close activities and resolve stuck transactions or billing errors

Maintain operational controls, alarm thresholds, and documentation

Coordinate AP write‑offs, clawbacks, and exception resolution across multiple teams

Support marketplace projects working with technical teams to conduct root cause analysis and drive process improvements to enhance compliance and operational efficiency

Develop and implement automated solutions using Amazon QuickSight and similar tools to streamline marketplace operations and reporting capabilities

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role experience (engineering, process re‑engineering, quality assurance)

6+ years of Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable experience

6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision‑making experience

6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

5+ years of SOX and/or Audit engagements experience

5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience

Preferred Qualifications

CPA

6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

Experience working with large‑scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Experience prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
