The AWS Infrastructure Finance team provides end-to-end financial support, driving AWS to be the lowest cost provider in cloud computing and leader in customer experience. We are seeking a Finance Manager to join the Data Center Planning and Delivery Finance team within the AWS Infrastructure Finance organization. This role will provide critical financial partnership across the data center delivery lifecycle, with specialized focus on construction, controls, and commissioning activities that support AWS's global infrastructure expansion and capacity delivery goals. The DC Planning and Delivery Finance team provides critical support in the form of financial valuation, investment decisions, cost optimization, and driving infra portfolio strategy for Amazon's data center construction and delivery operations. We are looking for a Finance Manager to support the end-to-end DC planning and delivery portfolio: construction evaluation processes, construction and commissioning capex and opex portfolio reporting, month-end close processes, capex/opex approval automation support, and strategic financial partnership with stakeholder teams.
Key job responsibilities
Lead financial evaluation and analysis of complex, long-term construction contracts and commissioning agreements for the AMER portfolio; develop comprehensive financial models to assess project economics, risks, and returns.
Drive strategic initiatives, including cost optimization initiatives, to reduce overall cost to construct, commission, and deliver data center capacity while accelerating speed to market.
Lead financial planning for construction, controls deployment, and commissioning activities, supporting AWS data center growth and capacity delivery timelines.
Provide strategic recommendations to shape deal structures and influence go-forward construction procurement strategies while ensuring alignment with AWS's financial objectives and growth targets.
Manage performance and reporting of the DC construction and delivery portfolio, including unit costs and establishing “best at AWS” benchmarks for the global datacenter portfolio.
Support financial aspects of negotiations with General Contractors, controls vendors, and commissioning service providers for labor, material rates, and service agreements.
Own process excellence and automation that scale with the portfolio’s growth.
Develop robust financial controls throughout the construction, controls installation, and commissioning phases.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, or business, or a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of quantitative experience (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance).
5+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or CPA.
5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause, and creating/implementing an escalation plan.
5+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
Knowledge of SQL/ETL.
Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
Experience communicating effectively with senior leadership.
Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements.
Strong business judgment with a controllership focus and ability to think strategically while managing through complexity.
5+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits).
Experience with analytical tools and ability to dive deep into metrics and reporting.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
