Responsibilities Be part of our exciting team supporting a robust, world-wide communications network, providing office automation packages; document and information management tools; and collaboration, voice, and video tools in a secure, flexible, distributed architecture supporting a classified DoD IT system. Peraton is seeking a Senior Network Architect to provide design and upgrade efforts encompassing the network infrastructure across a large-scale enterprise Information Technology (IT) program.

Designs and plans network communications systems

Review and analyze the existing network architecture, plan, and provide designs to implement current/modern upgrades to WAN/MAN/LAN technologies

Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network

Provide specifications and detailed schematics and artifacts for network architecture

Conduct cost/benefit analysis and provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

Conduct testing of network design

Advise and provide client hardware requirements, configurations, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and limitations

Design telecommunications circuit specifications

Deliver service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Responsible for monitoring network statistics to ensure optimum performance

Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options

Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as management, monitoring, automation, routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications equipment

Qualifications Requirements:

Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.; 4 years of additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree

Top Secret with SCI eligibility is required.

Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III (must be attained prior to starting).

Required VMware Certified Professional-Network Virtualization (VCP-NV) AXELOS ITIL4 professional certification

Cloud, Automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) certificates/training may be required within 6 months of starting.

Minimum of 5 years designing VMware NSX environments utilizing Software Defined Networking (SDN) principles, physical Internet Protocol/Fiber Channel networks, and routing protocols

Proven expertise with Cisco network platforms including management, monitoring, automation, routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications equipment

Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF), DODAF 2.0 standards, and Change Management Processes to ensure smooth network updates and configurations

Knowledge of Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) or Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) systems

Demonstrated skill in using MS Office applications for network design documentation, including advanced use of Visio for generating detailed technical drawings and diagrams

Proven experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors

Experience utilizing network management solutions based on Netflow and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)

Proven experience in virtualized environments (e.g. Azure, VMware NSX)

Proficiency with Automation tools and scripting (e.g. Ansible, Python, or similar)

Proficiency with Infrastructure as a Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)

Expertise in gathering requirements and preparing presentations

Demonstrated ability to present technical subject matter effectively to VIP audiences

Desired:

Professional certification in Cisco, Azure, VMware, and/or ITIL. (e.g., CCNP Enterprise, DevNet Professional, AZ-104)

Minimum 10 years of Cisco (or similar) experience; proven expertise with Cisco network platforms including management, monitoring, automation, routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications equipment

Familiarity with Agile methodologies for iterative network project management

Target Salary Range $146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
