Job Summary The Senior Systems Engineer performs requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems‑level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for products in the defense systems portfolio. Analyses are performed during all phases of the product development process to include concept, design, prototyping, test, installation, operation, and maintenance. The Systems Engineer will provide guidance in the development of new defense systems and components functioning as part of a System / Integrated Product Team.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Review, develop, and document system level requirements, CONOPS, and mission statements.

Produce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standards.

Perform requirements management, analysis, and allocations on complex systems design.

Effectively document and communicate designs, results, reports, and presentations.

Work with all Technical functions to develop and document product architectures that meet technical, cost and schedule goals.

Perform System Development utilizing Model Based System Engineering best practices.

Define and execute trade studies that result in selection of the most optimal approach to complex design and architecture issues.

Research, conceptualize, and evaluate complex system architectures and product designs, recommend design modifications to improve product performance, cost, reliability, and development schedule (can be activity lead or in supporting role).

Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other Elbit America Business Units.

Lead customer interactions with regard to influencing and understanding Voice of the Customer and product requirements.

Support proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost estimating, and presentation activities.

Drive system integration efforts including hands‑on evaluation of prototypes.

Plan and support verification and validation activities for complex system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.

Prepare and/or deliver technical presentations to customers, ESA management, or development team.

Provide regular and clear communication to customers, Elbit America affiliates, government officials, and other contractors as required.

Perform workforce planning and resource allocation in coordination with Engineering Functional Leadership and Engineering Business Unit Leads.

Ensure lessons learned are identified and incorporated into the standards process.

Recommend tools to improve systems engineering design processes and procedures.

Mentor entry level engineers.

Assume the role of System / Integrated Product Team Lead for projects. Utilize the Agile product development approach.

Other related duties assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience & License or Certification

Hold an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-optical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Software Engineering.

Ability to demonstrate/show principal responsibilities mentioned above (5+ years of systems engineering experience).

Fully understand internal systems engineering procedures.

Knowledge and experience in the development of Concept(s) of Operation, requirements development and management, develop system architectures utilizing Model Based System Engineering concepts, conceptualization and analysis of complex systems architecture design, system/subsystem integration/test planning and execution, and qualification testing.

Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (CAMEO) is an advantage.

Former military experience in aerospace/avionics/naval/ground systems is an advantage.

Computer skills, understanding of basic electrical, mechanical, optical, or software engineering principles.

Specific defense or public safety industry experience, including experience with command and control software systems, mission computers and displays, complex camera and radar surveillance systems, communications and networking equipment, power equipment, and/or supporting information technology, would be beneficial to the applicant.

Must be able to complete a DoD clearance at Secret level.

Must be able to approach technical problems in a logical and scientific manner.

Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities and be able to work for short to moderate periods of time without direct supervision.

The ability to build robust relationships and work well with people at all levels of the organization, including program management and engineering functional management, is absolutely critical.

Travels to customer and affiliate sites located throughout the US in support of all of the above.

International travel may also be required on a program‑by‑program basis.

Work independently and with internal/external organizations.

Travel/Physical Requirements

Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10‑15% to support projects.

The work is in person, in office – at least 3 or 4 days in office every week.
