Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal (Temp-to-Hire)
Position Type:
Temp-to-Hire (3–6 months before conversion)
Location:
1900 Main Street, 14th Floor, Houston, TX 77002
Parking:
Responsible for own parking; parking available approximately $5/day
Pay:
Up to $40/hour
Schedule:
100% In-Office, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (no or very little overtime)
Overview A dedicated client, a respected local government organization, seeks an experienced Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in the Legal Department with claims, discovery, and litigation matters. Temp-to-hire opportunity offering professional stability and long‑term growth potential.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
Provide complex litigation support in state and federal courts and arbitration matters.
Assist in responding to discovery, scheduling, arranging depositions, ordering records, and preparing, reviewing, analyzing, filing, and organizing documents related to litigation.
Assist with drafting and coordinating preparation of board materials, including minutes, scripts, resolutions, motions, and related documents.
Draft, review, and revise board‑related documents on behalf of the Legal Department.
Perform legal research, locating case law, statutory authority, administrative regulations, and other resources.
Draft pleadings, memoranda, correspondence, and other legal materials for attorney review.
Track and maintain deadline calendars to ensure compliance with court and statutory deadlines.
Coordinate and maintain case lists or trial dockets for assigned attorneys.
Participate in trial preparation: create trial notebooks, update discovery, schedule witnesses, file pleadings.
Attend and assist at trials and board meetings.
Handle case intake and client communication.
Assist in compiling responses to requests under the Texas Public Information Act.
Collaborate with department members to achieve annual and quarterly goals.
Organize and maintain filing systems for matters handled by the Legal Department, ensuring compliance with records‑management policies.
Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely handling of complex legal matters.
Lead special projects at the direction of attorneys.
Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients.
Promote safety awareness and follow all applicable procedures.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Paralegal Certification required (ABA‑accredited program).
Minimum 5 years experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in personal injury or insurance defense.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, LexisNexis, Westlaw, and legal document management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented.
