Position Summary
A well-established commercial drywall subcontractor based in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large‑scale commercial drywall projects and proven experience working directly for a subcontractor, not a general contractor.
This role offers the opportunity to manage complex and diverse projects, lead field and office teams, and play a key part in delivering high‑quality interior and exterior systems across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to company standards.
Oversee and coordinate with field superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain efficient project flow and jobsite safety.
Review project drawings, specifications, and scope to identify materials, manpower needs, and scheduling requirements.
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost reports, and change orders.
Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, architects, and vendors to ensure consistent communication and collaboration.
Identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure adherence to company quality control and safety procedures on all projects.
Provide leadership and guidance to junior project staff, fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects within the commercial drywall subcontracting industry.
Experience with systems such as drywall, stucco, acoustical ceilings, aluminum composite panels, and light gauge metal framing.
Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, scopes, and specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Procore (or similar project management software).
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience will be considered.
