Gaston Social Services protects, cares for, and empowers children and adults who are temporarily or permanently unable to care for themselves through the administration of federal, state, and county programs focused on improving the well‑being of our citizens.

An hourly salary range of $27.45 to $31.91 is anticipated for this position.

Examples Of Duties

Provide case management services for children in custody of the Department of Social Services, aggressively seeking permanency and coordinating visits, court hearings, and documentation.

Assist children and families with medical, emotional, educational, and placement needs, including home visits and removal from foster homes.

Participate in Permanency Planning Team Meetings, Child and Family Team Meetings, Treatment Team Meetings, and Care Review meetings to oversee treatment level and placement.

Develop programming and budgeting for the county LINKS program, refer youth to services, and engage the community in mentoring and supporting independence.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.

Master’s degree in counseling or human services with one year of directly related experience.

Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work with a Child Welfare Collaborative (CPS positions only).

Bachelor’s degree in social work and one year of experience in case management, assessment, referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho‑social therapy, or treatment planning.

Four‑year degree in human services with at least 25 semester hours of approved coursework and two years of experience in a related area.

Four‑year degree and three years of related experience.

A valid driver’s license is required.

Additional Information

The applicant must undergo a criminal background check and drug screening test prior to employment.

County background checks performed in compliance with relevant statutes (G.S. 160A‑164.2(b), G.S. 143B‑1209.26).
