Gaston Social Services: Protecting, caring for, and empowering children and adults who are temporarily or permanently unable to care for themselves through the administration of federal, state, and county programs focused on improving the well-being of our citizens. Salary
An hourly salary range of $20.43 to $23.75 is anticipated for this position. Responsibilities
Assists in completing foster care home visits in compliance with state statutes and corresponding operating policies and procedures. Assists in completing collateral contacts under the supervision of senior social workers. Assists clients in accessing services, providing assistance with program applications, and monitoring participation/progress. Schedules and facilitates Child and Family Team meetings under the guidance and supervision of a senior social worker. Provides children with emotional support when dealing with changes in their environment: reports and documents any information, observation of behavior, or interaction with children that may be helpful. Testifies in court to give observations. Completes CPS case history and history profiles. Builds collaborative relationships with outside agencies. Assists with adoption child profiles and preplacement assessments. Assists the client in understanding medical orders/routines and encourages compliance. Completes forms for clients such as physical forms, school enrollment forms, free lunch forms, group home applications, foster home applications, and other related forms. Prepares, maintains, and submits reports of observations and time spent in providing services as required. Attends case conferences and other meetings as assigned. Must be available to work mandatory emergency shelters & other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in customer service or a closely related field is required. Valid Driver's License Additional Requirements
A copy of a transcript must be included with the application. Failure to attach your transcripts will result in your application being rejected. The applicant selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment. In compliance with G.S. 160A-164.2(b), if the position being filled requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity, the County must require the applicant, if offered the position, to be subject to a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI. These checks must be performed in accordance with G.S.143B-1209.26, which authorizes the SBI to provide fingerprint-based state and national criminal record checks to cities and counties.
