Position Summary
The Senior Revenue Support Assistant reports to the Revenue Cycle Manager and/or Supervisor. This role provides clerical support for billing and collection of accounts receivable across the Health System and resolves complex payer issues on a daily basis. Accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency are essential, as the position handles large volumes of correspondence and patient files for Johns Hopkins Health System payer groups. The role requires basic knowledge of current HIPAA and HITECH regulations. The Senior Revenue Support Assistant works as part of a team, adapts to change across the Health System, builds effective relationships at multiple sites, and becomes familiar with each institution’s computer systems and payer contracts as needed.
Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
Knowledge Intermediate math skills. Basic medical terminology. Knowledge of Johns Hopkins Health System policies or other healthcare procedures preferred. Ability to search and print medical records. Ability to prepare productivity summaries. Ability to submit payer adjustments.
Skills Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong verbal and written communication skills when interacting with peers, leadership, payers, physicians, and ancillary departments. High attention to detail in tasks impacting accounts receivable. Analytical skills for assisting with weekly and monthly reports. Ability to complete complex tasks with minimal guidance. Ability to distribute mail and correspondence to the correct A/R teams. Ability to submit supply purchase orders.
Work Experience Three years of relevant experience.
Salary Range Minimum 17.11/hour - Maximum 28.26/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
