Position Summary
The Business Analyst is a key member of the cross‑functional Agile Scrum Team. In collaboration with the Product Owner, the Sr. Business Analyst works to assess business need and desired outcomes, elicit requirements from stakeholders and customers, define features, and create effective user stories to produce a healthy Product Backlog. With a focus on strategic product development, the Sr. Business Analyst enables the scrum team to deliver business value through technology while promoting Agile/Scrum best practices. The ability to be proactive, build relationships, and partner with the business and technology in a fast‑paced environment are critical to this role.
Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Partners with the Product Owner to shape strategic initiatives and prioritize features in alignment with business objectives
Drives requirements gathering with business partners and stakeholders, conducting interviews and research, and bringing technical product knowledge to strategic business conversations
Produces project documentation including process flows, wireframes, and other product artifacts
Translates complex business needs into clear, detailed requirements/user stories with actionable acceptance criteria
Researches and evaluates viable solutions to stated business problems
Partners with Product Owner to establish goals for product development, define expected value, and establish success metrics
Maintains an organized product backlog of prioritized user stories, capturing evolving requirements and adjusting priorities as required
Provides support to the Product Owner, taking ownership of tasks as requested, and helping to identify and resolve project impacts and dependencies
Participates in UX design sessions, discussions, and usability testing as required
Partners with Product Owner to lead backlog refinement sessions and actively participates in all scrum ceremonies including stand‑ups, sprint reviews/demos, release and sprint planning, and team retrospectives
Provides QA and UAT testing support as required
Works with Product Owner and team to plan and execute release‑on‑demand project implementations
Partners with organizational readiness on implementation strategy, rollout, adoption, and user support
Defines goals for professional development and works to continually enhance domain knowledge of systems, products, and industry
Partners with team members to expand knowledge of agile/scrum, apply best practices, and drive continuous improvement
Provides coaching/mentorship to less experienced team members
Participates in training opportunities and in monthly BA Community of Practice (CoP)
Approaches challenges with a growth mindset, helping to drive solutions, and achieve business results
Completes accurate and timely updates as required to time and project tracking systems
Assists with other tasks and project deliverables as requested
Skills, Knowledge Requirements
A Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role with demonstrated success in role
A Minimum 5 years of retirement industry or financial services experience
Proactive and self‑motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Proven ability to optimally balance multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Experience with and interest in Agile and Scrum
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience using common PC applications including SQL and MS Office
Experience using common business applications and analytical tools
Experience defining user stories and acceptance criteria
Experience with testing and user support
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a scrum team
