Summary The Maintenance Specialist is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement at the Raritan site. This position involves supporting validation and qualification activities for new projects, developing and executing maintenance strategies, and supporting capital projects. The role requires a proactive approach to asset performance monitoring, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to optimize operational efficiency while maintaining strict regulatory compliance. The incumbent will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, support audits, and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement, all in alignment with Johnson & Johnson’s Leadership Imperatives and Credo.

Key Responsibilities

Support validation and qualification activities for new manufacturing projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Analyze asset performance data to identify opportunities for maintenance improvements and operational efficiencies.

Investigate asset issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Develop, review, and optimize maintenance strategies, including predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs.

Contribute to the Site Master Plan and Asset Replacement Strategy, aligning with long‑term manufacturing goals.

Support capital projects related to assets, providing technical input and ensuring timely execution.

Assist in the preparation and support of internal and external audits, ensuring all maintenance and validation activities meet compliance standards.

Lead and drive continuous improvement projects.

Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and cross‑functional teams to develop repair schematics and improve maintenance processes.

Provide technical support during equipment modifications, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement and safety within the maintenance team.

Support the development and execution of training programs for maintenance staff.

Demonstrate and apply Johnson & Johnson’s Leadership Imperatives and Credo.

Qualifications Education

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field.

Experience and Skills

Minimum 4 years of experience in maintenance within biopharma, with Cell Therapy experience considered a strong plus.

Proven experience supporting validation and qualification processes in manufacturing environments.

Strong background in developing and implementing maintenance programs and strategies.

Experience working with manufacturing assets, equipment troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.

Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality systems.

Hands‑on experience with asset management systems and Microsoft Project.

Prior involvement in supporting audits and regulatory inspections.

Experience in project management and capital project support.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Knowledge of Cell Therapy manufacturing processes is a plus.

Familiarity with risk assessment and mitigation strategies.

Proficiency in Microsoft Project, maintenance management software, and data analysis tools.

May require up to 20% domestic and/or international travel.

The position involves physical activities such as equipment inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks.

This position will require standing for extended periods, walking across facilities, climbing stairs or ladders, and light lifting of materials or equipment.

Compensation and Benefits The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $79,000 to $127,000.

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits: Vacation –120 hours per calendar year, Sick time – 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year; Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year; Work, Personal and Family Time – up to 40 hours per calendar year; Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child; Condolence Leave – 30 days for an immediate family member: 5 days for an extended family member; Caregiver Leave – 10 days; Volunteer Leave – 4 days; Military Spouse Time‑Off – 80 hours.
