We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electronics Technician to join our Failure Analysis Engineering team in our state‑of‑the‑art facility in Orangeburg, NY. The team investigates critical product failures from the field by performing detailed analyses and experiments to determine the root cause of failures. In this role, you will contribute to root‑cause failure analysis with the goal of uncovering design and/or manufacturing flaws, which will help reduce customer returns, field performance issues, and production failures. In this role you will work cross‑functionally with various engineering teams and will draw on your ability to troubleshoot digital and analog circuitry. With access to schematics, datasheets, part documentation, a wide variety of laboratory tools, and engineering support, you will analyze circuits down to component level to determine the root cause of a product failure. You will use a wide range of troubleshooting tools, equipment and techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Perform in-depth troubleshooting down to component level on electronics products
Configure bench‑test set‑ups to duplicate fail modes ranging from audio, video, Ethernet/IP communications, power, etc.
Prepare detailed technical analysis reports documenting the failure mode, diagnosis process, and root cause of an issue
Interpret schematics, test reports, data sheets, product history, ECN’s and customer case notes
Interface with various teams regarding product failures and failure analysis results
Other related duties as required
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Electronics or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of experience troubleshooting electronic assemblies down to the component level
Understanding of analog and digital circuits, including microprocessors and gate arrays
Experience with test equipment including DVMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, thermal chambers, etc.
Ability to solder / perform rework down to the SMT level
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Strong problem‑solving, communication, and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Self‑starter with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimization
