The University of Miami is currently seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) 2 to work at UHealth at Doral Clinic. The incumbent will perform multi‑skilled tasks to assist medical providers. The MA 2 shall assist patients’ healthcare management and clinical procedures in a culturally competent manner using evidence‑based standards of quality, safety, and service. The MA 2 provides hands‑on care to patients while adhering to regulatory requirements, standards of care, and institutional policies and procedures, under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician. The MA 2 shall preserve ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize and respond to emergencies, and demonstrate professionalism in all activities. Core Job Functions

The Medical Assistant (MA) 2 provides overall care with loving kindness, supporting each patient’s individual needs and respecting their spiritual beliefs, faith, and practices. Encourages patients to speak honestly about their feelings, no matter what they are feeling. Creates a safe, comfortable environment that allows the patient to heal physically and spiritually, establishing a trusting relationship through authentic presence, emotional support, and management of discomforts. Organization and Work Role Functions

Prioritizes and integrates multiple requests and work expectations, performing tasks appropriately, timely, safely, and professionally. Communicates clearly and in a timely manner with patients, families, and the appropriate team members. Seeks assistance when needed. Contributes to team building by participating in unit/clinic programs and meetings. Commits to positive morale, using constructive and effective conflict resolution skills. Utilizes available technology resources for communication, documentation, and locating pertinent information. Attains educational knowledge and competencies that reflect current clinical practice skills. Demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning and is responsible for own professional development. Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA. Meets diverse communication needs of patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). Professional Practice

Performs within clinical scope of practice skills using state, federal, and university standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations. Incorporates protocols and standards of care into daily practice. Accepts and provides focused constructive feedback and guidance with loving kindness to maintain self‑esteem. Core Duties and Qualifications

Abides by standards for ethical behavior, therapeutic communication, and protecting patient privacy. Demonstrates knowledge of basic medical terminology. Assists providers with physical examinations by preparing treatment/exam rooms with proper supplies, instruments, and materials. Understands the importance of medical and surgical asepsis; prepares patients for physician care. Performs routine laboratory tests. Performs vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and documents in patient medical record. Observes and reports patient signs or symptoms changes. Administers medication safely as directed by the physician. Assists in patient care activities such as walking and transporting to various hospital locations. Cleans and/or sterilizes medical instruments while observing principles of sterile technique. Schedules patients for tests and completes required forms for laboratory work. Provides patients with provider care instructions and information. Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation; orders, stocks, inventories supplies, and assists in clerical duties. Adheres to university and unit‑level policies & procedures and safeguards university assets. Important Note

Medical Assistants 2 working in hospital‑based units will not perform any type of medication administration. This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all‑inclusive and may expand as necessary. Core Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Certification and Licensing

Approved MA Certifications: CMA (Certified Medical Assistant – AAMA), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant – AMT), CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant – NHA), NCMA (National Certified Medical Assistant – NHA‑NCCT), NRCMA (Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant – NAHP). Additional Certification

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers. HIV & AIDS Certification: Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional Continue Education (CE) Certification. Experience
