The Role You'll Contribute
Processes specimens for pathologic diagnosis, tissue fixation, processing, preparing and staining slides for microscopic examination by the pathologist.
Value You'll Bring to the Team
Follows established procedures to collect and process biological specimens for analysis.
Registers, orders, and accessions pathology specimens into computer systems.
Adheres to safety requirements and appropriately handles and disposes of chemicals.
Follows safety policies including use of PPE, handwashing, hazardous chemical handling, and completes required training for handling hazardous waste.
Utilizes automated histology equipment properly according to lab procedures and manufacturer instructions.
Assists pathologists with frozen section preparations and procedural areas with specimen collection such as Fine Needle Aspirations.
May prepare cytology specimens.
Maintains technical skills and aptitudes related to specimen processing and staining performed in the department or work area assigned.
Qualifications
High School Graduate or equivalent.
1 year of work experience preferred.
Histotechnician (HTASCP) certification preferred.
Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) license preferred.Medical Laboratory Technician (MLTASCP) certification preferred.
