Travel Dialysis RN – 13‑week Assignment

Required Qualifications
One year of recent experience as a Dialysis RN
Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
Preferred Qualifications
ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) or Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN)
Other relevant certifications and licenses
Summary Dialysis RNs specialize in caring for patients with acute or chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis. They monitor vitals, operate and maintain dialysis equipment, administer medications, and educate patients on kidney disease management. They collaborate with nephrologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care tailored to each patient’s needs.
Essential Work Functions
Assess and monitor patients’ vital signs before, during, and after dialysis to ensure stability and safety
Oversee the entire dialysis treatment, including cannulating access, securing blood work, and documenting findings
Administer prescribed medications accurately, following physician orders
Maintain and provide adequate supplies and equipment
Adhere to infection control protocols when cleaning and dressing catheters
Document patient conditions, dialysis treatments, and care interventions accurately
Respond promptly to emergencies during dialysis, such as hypotension or cardiac events
Educate patients and families about kidney disease, dialysis, medication management, and lifestyle adjustments
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance dialysis care
Stay informed on advancements in nephrology and dialysis technology
Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication
Proficient in reading, writing, and communication in English
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions with PC skills
Physical capabilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend
Interpersonal: work effectively with a variety of personnel while maintaining a positive attitude
Technical/Motor: grasp fine manipulation and assist with procedures or equipment use
Mental: handle frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under supervision or alone, and maintain concentration on details
Sensory: possess adequate visual acuity and effective communication skills
