LHH is seeking a Controller to join a fast‑growing, private‑equity‑backed organization in the commercial services and construction‑related industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic, multi‑entity business that continues to expand through strategic acquisitions and organic growth. The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on finance leader with a strong accounting foundation, proven experience overseeing financial operations, and the ability to serve as a strategic business partner to operational leadership. This position requires a balance of technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to drive financial insight and performance across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a financial leader and business partner to operating company management teams, providing financial insights and guidance to support strategic decisions
Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including month‑end close, general ledger maintenance, revenue recognition, accounts receivable collections, and payables management
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial results, reports, and supporting schedules
Partner with corporate accounting to maintain adherence to company accounting policies and ensure a strong internal control environment
Support and manage the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to align with organizational goals
Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting staff, balancing oversight with hands‑on involvement
Coordinate with external auditors and contribute to audit preparation and support activities
Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, sales, and corporate leadership on financial and project‑related matters
Participate in system and process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities
Complete ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested by leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership within a controller or similar role
Experience in construction, project‑based, or service‑oriented industries strongly preferred
Prior experience with multi‑entity or multi‑location organizations a plus
Proficiency in ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 highly desirable
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office tools
Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Proven ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
Strong business acumen and the ability to translate financial results into actionable operational insights
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
