PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending status accepted at submission; must have license in hand before start)
BLS certification required
ACLS and BSN preferred
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown nursing
At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting system
Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Two supervisor references required
Willingness to care for COVID-19 patients as assigned
PCU RN Responsibilities
Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex medical and surgical diagnoses (e.g., thoracic surgery, GI bleeds, pneumonia, liver failure, CHF exacerbations)
Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias; manage cardiac drips (no titration)
Start and maintain IVs, administer medications via Pyxis, and follow IV insulin protocols
Provide care for central lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed
Float to other nursing units as required
Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner
Comply with hospital policies, including flu vaccination requirements
