Job Description
The Gymnastics Director is responsible for leading all aspects of the Countryside YMCA Gymnastics Program including instructional programs and the gymnastics team, and to prepare each participant to meet his/her potential as an individual and an athlete.
Qualifications
High School diploma; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
3+
years of program administration, management and supervisory experience Minimum 3 years teaching progressive gymnastic programs Minimum 3 years teaching/coaching competitive gymnastics.
Levels 3 – 6 required, Levels 7-9 preferred Prior experience facilitating recreational and competitive gymnastic meets/competitions CPR and First Aid and Safe Sport Certification. USAG Safety Certification and USAG Professional Member Essential Functions Supervise and manage gymnastics instructional, competitive, day camps, competitive meets and special events Create a positive, team oriented atmosphere where gymnasts learn the values of the YMCA and understand the mission. Interview, hire, train and supervise support staff to include assistant director, gymnastic coordinators, instructional staff, team coaches and day camp counselors Establish and maintain relationships and open communications with gymnasts and parents Organize gymnastics team and related instructional class schedules for the year Regularly observe classes, giving praise where due and suggestions for improvement where necessary; may need to fill gaps in the teaching schedule Assist with evaluating gymnasts on their performance level and put them in correct classes. Utilize the marketing team to advertise gymnastics programs and grow our recreational gymnastics program. Sets budget and enrollment goals for YMCA gymnastics programs. Ensure gymnastic facilities and equipment are safe and properly maintained. Develop a training and certification plan for all coordinators, coaches and instructors Follow all safety and risk management procedures and report any safety issues to the Risk Manager. Assist in special events and support YMCA Annual Campaign events as needed Fulfill quarterly “late night duty” assignments Cause-Driven Leadership Competencies Building Relationships Leading Operations Developing and Inspiring People Advancing our Cause Required Certifications Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to lead and motivate others; must be able to effectively supervise both staff and volunteers Strong organizational skills Preferred USAG certifications: o
