Position Summary The Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement of goods and services, lead execution of key procurement goals and support the organization’s broader supply chain initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical capacity and a drive to innovate. The role will involve varying projects along with regular coordination of purchasing throughout the organization. Assists sites with material resource planning to meet production needs and prioritizes accordingly.
Responsibilities
Builds and maintains relationships with suppliers and contractors
Collaborates with suppliers and contractors to develop, maintain and iterate on partnerships
Develops processes to ensure ethical and safety standards of contractors and suppliers
Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and recommends and/or implements solutions to optimize inventory levels to support manufacturing schedule
Drives organizational goals for procurement based upon focus areas
Performs daily standard purchasing tasks along with special projects aligned with company initiatives
Partners with various departments including safety, operations, engineering, maintenance, freight and production planning on ongoing projects and process improvement initiatives
Responsible for participating, identifying and leading Supply Chain continuous improvement activities including supplier engagements, cost optimization initiatives, process improvements, and supporting Lean projects
Develops new suppliers, contractors and service providers and assess ongoing opportunities to improve vendor partners and overall efficiency
Assess current vendor performance and leads line reviews at a regular interval
Negotiates contract terms and maintains performance expectations for supplier scorecards
Demonstrates team leadership and management capabilities
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in business management, supply chain or related field required
7+ years of related purchasing, supply chain, sales or sourcing experience including management experience or equivalent training required
Manages multiple projects, tasks, and timelines while communicating with key stakeholders
Demonstrated strong math, analytical, negotiation and communication skills
Proficient experience with Microsoft office programs and related computer applications
Demonstrated time management, detail attentiveness, task prioritization, and organizational skills
Leadership abilities to drive key initiatives with multiple internal and external teams
Experience with an ERP system as well as a task management platform
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills
Effective communication skills to explain goals and objectives to a team and successfully lead towards goal achievement
Proven ability to collect, analyze and interpret data for decision making
Experience with industrial and mechanical specifications and general parts knowledge in a manufacturing environment a plus
Relevant knowledge of contract law basics
Travel Required – 10%; in office required when not traveling on business
