Position Summary: The Freight & Logistics Manager manages all aspects of an organization's logistics and freight functions to ensure safe, quality, and on-time deliveries to customers. This role involves leading freight professionals, collaborating with sales and operations, and fostering partnerships with external freight resources. The ideal candidate is a self-starter motivated by a strong service mindset and leadership.

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:

Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network

Manages vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance

Develops and maintains a carrier scorecard system. Collaborates with carriers to drive value and ensure quality

Aligns the freight strategy with the commercial, operational and overall business strategy

Assess new trends in the marketplace and implements as beneficial

Maintains and develops reporting for freight damage and freight claims to minimize risks

Manages International shipments including documentation and customs compliance

Ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods

Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost

Ensures quality standards are met with delivery partners

Monitors teams and carriers’ adherence to service level targets. Troubleshoots and resolves issues

Develops transportation and demand metrics to forecast and manage peak demand periods and avoid delays or bottlenecks

Develops and updates rate calculations to forecast various scenarios and impacts on costs and expenditures.

Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:

5+ years of related supply chain experience or equivalent training,

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Distribution, Business or related degree paths required; Master’s in Business, Industrial Distribution or equivalent experience

Advanced analytical, data-analyzing, and complex problem-solving skills

Proven experience leading teams and collaborating with different business units

Expertise with Microsoft office programs, freight management programs and related software applications

Customer service skills and a passion for service

Strong time management, detail attentiveness, prioritization of tasks, and organizational skills

Adept negotiation skills

Deep understanding of economics around freight
