Senior Director, Business Development (New Verticals) Join Flex, a growth‑stage FinTech company headquartered in New York City that is transforming how renters pay rent by enabling on‑time, pay‑over‑time payments throughout the month.

About The Role We are seeking a strategic seller who excels at opening doors, building conviction and closing complex platform deals. In this outward‑facing, high‑impact role you will take Flex’s pay‑over‑time platform into new industries and build the partnerships that will fuel our next wave of growth.

What You’ll Do

Originate and build new partnerships with aggregators and platform partners, sourcing, qualifying and pursuing opportunities to unlock scalable access to new industries.

Lead the full lifecycle of strategic negotiations—commercial terms, pricing, exclusivity and go‑to‑market commitments—and work cross‑functionally with Legal and Finance to finalize agreements that drive material business impact.

Develop market entry and go‑to‑market strategies for new payment categories, translating market insights into actionable partnership roadmaps.

Secure one‑to‑many integrations that aggregate large populations of billers or consumers, enabling efficient, repeatable distribution through a single technical deployment.

Partner with GTM and Sales teams to coordinate joint pipeline management, co‑selling efforts and downstream activation across key verticals.

Launch and operationalize partnerships by collaborating with Product, Engineering and Marketing to ensure seamless partner onboarding, technical deployment and post‑launch optimisation.

Feed market insights back to Product and Engineering to shape integration strategy, API roadmap and partner tooling.

Key Qualifications

10+ years in business development, strategic partnerships or enterprise sales within FinTech, payments or SaaS.

Proven hunter DNA with a track record of originating and closing complex, first‑of‑kind deals.

Strong experience with aggregators or platform‑based partnerships, ideally involving one‑to‑many distribution models.

Full‑cycle deal ownership: from outbound prospecting through contracting, launch and scaling.

Skilled communicator with executive presence, commercial fluency and negotiation expertise.

Ability to operate with urgency, adaptability and strategic judgment in fast‑changing, high‑growth environments.

Compensation On‑Target Earnings (OTE) range: $265,000–$365,000, including base salary and commission. Compensation is commensurate with experience and Flex’s internal leveling guidelines.

Location & Travel Hybrid flexibility: in‑office days 3 days a week in New York or 2 days a week in San Francisco. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates outside these markets.
