Patient Access Representative – OBMG Family Med‑Avon The Outer Banks Hospital is a full‑service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21‑bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year‑round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four operating rooms, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section operating room, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24‑hour emergency department.

Position Summary Performs patient registration. Provides insurance benefits interpretation and counseling. Maintains medical terminology skills and knowledge of third‑party payer regulations. Performs patient and customer relations. Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

High School or equivalent (GED) or higher is required.

Associate Degree: preferred.

Bachelor’s Degree: preferred.

2 years of customer service experience required.

1 to 2 years of registration and/or billing experience within a healthcare setting preferred.

Excellent written and oral communication, detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills required.

Basic computer skills.

Other Information 4 days per week (Monday‑Friday).
