Human Resources About the Role
Virginia Transformer Corp. is seeking a hands‑on and experienced
HR Generalist
to support our manufacturing operations in Roanoke, VA. This role will serve as a key business partner to plant leadership and employees, providing guidance in employee relations, investigations, compliance, and leave administration. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment and bring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities. This position offers a
4x10 schedule
and requires
weekend flexibility
to support multi‑shift operations. Key Responsibilities
Serve as the on‑site HR contact for assigned departments and production teams, including weekend coverage as needed. Conduct and document
employee relations investigations
with confidentiality, consistency, and fairness. Provide coaching and guidance to managers on performance, attendance, and policy compliance. Administer and track
FMLA, ADA, and other leave programs , ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee orientation for both hourly and salaried positions. Partner with operations and safety teams to promote a positive, safe, and compliant work environment. Assist with employee engagement initiatives, retention strategies, and recognition programs. Maintain accurate employee files, HRIS data, and compliance documentation. Support benefits and compensation processes, including open enrollment, job changes, and performance reviews. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum
3–5 years of HR Generalist experience , ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEO compliance. Demonstrated experience in
employee investigations
and issue resolution. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism. Flexibility to work
a 4x10 schedule
and provide
weekend HR support
