Phlebotomist I – Arvin, CA Quest Diagnostics is seeking a qualified Phlebotomist I to work Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM with rotational weekends. The position requires a state phlebotomy license (Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, or NV).

Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: $21.70 – $23.95 / hour (salary offers based on experience, education, certifications, and other factors)

Responsibilities

Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.

Administer oral solutions and other patient materials.

Verify all written and electronic orders using laboratory technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.

Maintain accurate computer data entry and billing information, collecting payments as required.

Label, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze, and prepare specimens for transport as dictated by test order.

Perform non‑patient tasks such as inventory, stocking, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and email communication.

Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies and procedures.

Assist with compilation and submission of statistical and data reports.

Maintain phlebotomy logs (maintenance logs, temperature logs) promptly.

Complete online and in‑person training courses in a timely manner.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.

Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

One year phlebotomy experience preferred.

Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.

Keyboard/data entry experience.

Effective written and spoken communication in English.
