Overview Shift schedule: 5–8 days with shifts from 0630 to 1830. Sign‑on bonus available.

Job Purpose Perform inpatient and/or outpatient cardiac ultrasound testing, including 2‑D echo/Doppler exams with bubble study and contrast, as well as limited studies for cardiac function, effusion assessment, and thrombus assessment. Provide complex technical care using ultrasound technology for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Document preliminary exam findings and technical care.

Key Responsibilities

Perform basic complete echocardiograms, ensuring high quality for diagnostic scans.

Analyze and document results of 2‑D, M‑Mode, and Doppler echocardiograms as ordered.

Prepare patients for exams, maintain supplies and equipment.

Operate other medical equipment as needed.

Seek opportunity to observe complex procedures.

Process all required paperwork.

Obtain all measurements and data according to PHC echo standard protocol.

Prepare a preliminary report for review by a cardiologist.

Identify critical findings and notify appropriate staff before patient departure, documenting the notification.

Adjust equipment settings to optimize study information and image quality.

Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation (AIDET).

Effectively communicate with patients, family, and other health‑care team members.

Participate in departmental in‑services and communication.

Maintain professional growth by participating in educational programs and activities.

Maintain appropriate registry and update certification to perform CPR as required.

Appropriately document IV insertion/removal and administration of agitated saline and/or enhancing agent in EMR.

Complete all aspects of procedure documentation in the EMR.

Participate in performance improvement data collection.

Follow all safety requirements of the hospital and department.

Maintain knowledge of procedural supplies.

Complete annual compliance and competency requirements.

Qualifications Minimum Education:

Graduate of a registry‑approved ultrasound program, CAAHEP‑accredited Cardiac Sonographer program, or equivalent experience per IAC.

Minimum Experience:

None specified.

Licensure/Certification:

Current registered or registry‑eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with RDCS certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) with RCS certification.

Must obtain appropriate credential within twelve months of hire.

BLS certification required.

Additional Qualifications:

Two years of related experience as an inpatient or outpatient cardiac sonographer preferred.

Skill in performing detailed cardiac ultrasound studies.

Effective verbal and written communication.

Proficiency in Windows‑based software.

Experience with electronic health records and cardiovascular PACS systems.

Teamwork and facilitation of daily department workflow.

Commitment to SAFECare and use of AIDET.
