Our 254‑bed full‑service facility offers emergency care, a primary stroke center, orthopedics and the only licensed obstetric and pediatric units in Charlotte County.

Responsibilities

Collect blood samples using standard venipuncture and microtainer techniques.

Receive laboratory specimens and process samples for laboratory testing.

Perform clerical and client service functions in the laboratory as requested.

Value to Team

Ability to perform venipuncture and microtainer collection.

Ensure specimens are correctly labeled and orders are received.

Properly prioritize routine specimen receipt in the laboratory on a “first in, first out” basis.

Stat and alert specimens are prioritized before routine orders.

Follow appropriate safety policies including PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling.

Demonstrate understanding and adherence to the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Infection Control policies.

Transport hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area; complete initial and refresher training on hazardous waste handling.

Qualifications

High School Graduate or equivalent.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification if required by facility.
