Rotating weekends and holidays

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or proof of application (required for Illinois nursing jobs)

Minimum 1 year of recent ICU RN experience (Neuro ICU experience preferred)

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – American Heart Association

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – AHA

NIH Stroke Scale Certification

Proficiency with ventriculostomy, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, tPA administration, acute stroke management, and post-craniectomy care

Ability to titrate IV drips as ordered by physicians

Willingness to float to other nursing units as needed

Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free campus policy)

ICU RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to Neuro ICU patients with acute neurological diagnoses, including strokes (with/without tPA) and cranial surgeries

Monitor and manage patients using advanced ICU equipment: ventilators, arterial lines, and central lines

Titrate and administer IV drips per physician orders

Interpret and monitor cardiac telemetry strips (Phillips monitors)

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams: charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care techs

Participate in a 20-hour unit-specific orientation

Float to intermediate and general care units as needed, adapting to various nurse-patient ratios

Maintain accurate documentation in the EPIC charting system

Comply with all hospital policies, safety, and infection control standards
