Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver (Full-Time)
Base pay range: $18.00/hr - $20.00/hr
This position allows you to make a positive impact on the community by maintaining facilities and ensuring a clean environment for children and families. The Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver works at the Chicago Youth Centers (CYC) Sidney Epstein Center, located at 3415 W. 13th Pl., Chicago, IL.
Purpose The Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver provides daily cleaning and maintenance of assigned site(s) and grounds, and performs tasks as directed by the Childcare Director or Center Director.
Responsibilities
Daily cleaning tasks: dust furniture, empty waste baskets, sweep/mop/disinfect floors, vacuum rugs, clean toilets, sinks, mirrors, check supplies, replace light bulbs, clean baseboards and vents.
Floor finishing: strip, clean, buff, seal, shampoo carpets, use pressure washers and vacuums as needed.
Snow/ice removal: shovel sidewalks, entryways, and grounds as necessary.
Monitor and report building or equipment repair needs.
Driving duties: pick up students from community schools and deliver them to the Center; create transportation schedule with Program Manager; maintain van cleanliness and routine maintenance; drive 15-20% of time between 2:00 PM–4:00 PM (hours may vary).
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of experience in cleaning and maintenance.
Valid Illinois driver’s license; must pass DMV and criminal background check.
Physical ability to climb ladders and travel between sites.
Skill using cleaning products and equipment.
Basic computer skills.
Bilingual Spanish language ability a plus.
Knowledge of health, fire, and safety codes.
