WSP is inviting applications for a
Full‑Time Deputy Construction Manager
with the potential to work out of any of our U.S. WSP offices: Tempe/Phoenix, AZ; San Diego, CA; Chicago, IL; Las Vegas, NV; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Tampa, FL. The successful candidate will provide construction and technical direction on building and facilities construction projects, overseeing small to medium, multi‑discipline projects from assignment through commissioning, close‑out, and turnover to the client. Responsibilities
Supporting the Project Manager in tendering works, bid reviews, and bid analysis. Managing construction projects upon award of contracts. Coordinating contractors. Monitoring budget and schedule, ensuring adherence to cost and delivery contractual commitments. Monitoring construction and documenting project status; providing a weekly report. Maintaining a concise, professional weekly construction log. Recording and documenting significant verbal, telephone, and media communication. Ensuring quality control and resolving poor‑quality fabrication, installation, or material issues. Controlling change orders, including detailed knowledge of change and contractual requirements. Monitoring job safety and compliance with WSP and USPS’s safety, health and environmental (SH&E) requirements. Attending project start‑up meetings and documenting attendance, including safety program. Assisting in responding to RFIs, material and equipment submittals, and shop drawings. Interfacing with the client as required or defined for the program. Overseeing project turnover documentation, including as‑built drawings, training manuals, OEM installation/operation & maintenance manuals. Conducting equipment and systems testing and commissioning. Field assignments are local and regional; overnight travel may be up to 100%. Implementing standards in compliance with USPS/WSP program requirements under guidance from senior construction managers. Demonstrating construction management skills in integration, scope, time, cost, quality, change, and communication management. Ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget and in accordance with quality and contract requirements. Maintaining clear and precise records to meet contract and regulatory requirements. Complying with all USPS/WSP environmental, health, and safety requirements. Managing a variety of building types, including offices, light industrial facilities, and maintenance facilities. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent experience. Experience working with outside 3rd‑party vendors, suppliers, and contractors. Minimum of 5 years of construction management or related disciplines in a supervisory role on light industrial or commercial projects. Self‑motivation with an entrepreneurial spirit. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and MS Project; familiarity with Blue‑Beam, AutoCAD, and project management software such as Procore is a plus. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of environmental, safety and health regulatory compliance. Negotiation and construction management experience. Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient, and detail‑oriented. Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, floor plans, shop drawings, specifications, and schedules for architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC equipment, and building structures. Physical Demands
Ability to stoop, sit, stand, or remain on feet for extended periods; handle standard field‑testing equipment. Ability to work in varying environments (office and field settings). Travel up to 100% with potential overnight stays and flexible hours. Must pass drug test, background check, and company Motor Vehicle Record check. Benefits
