KPMG is currently seeking an Engineering Director to join our Tax Ignition Team. This is a hybrid work opportunity.
Responsibilities
Define roadmaps and technical strategies for multi‑year, large‑scale programs that span cloud services, microservices, front‑end frameworks and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) integrations
Act as the main liaison between business stakeholders, enterprise architects, security/risk officers and product leadership to align priorities, scope and budgets
Own end‑to‑end program delivery; guide design reviews, enforce best practices (infrastructure as code, containerization, API standards), and validate POCs for new technologies (LLM fine‑tuning, prompt‑based workflows, and more)
Hire, mentor and grow a high‑performing team of engineers (full‑stack, data science, DevOps; create clear career paths, and foster a culture of continuous learning
Work in a highly regulated environment with security testing and risk teams to bake in security‑by‑design threat modeling, automated security scans, pen‑testing cycles and regulatory compliance
Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
Qualifications
Minimum ten years of recent experience in software engineering; minimum five years of recent experience in a leadership role; proven track record running large, complex enterprise programs on Azure (App Services, Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service, SQL Database)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, engineering or related field is preferred; Master's degree from an accredited college or university is desired
Deep practical experience and background in Python, .NET Framework/Core, C#, PowerShell, Angular, TypeScript, LLM fine‑tuning (Azure OpenAI or open‑source), data pipelines, model deployment, DevOps/CI‑CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), infrastructure as code (ARM, Bicep)
Exceptional communicating skills, demonstrated ability and comfort in presenting to C‑suite and translating business needs into technical solutions; possess an entrepreneurial mindset such as being proactive, data‑driven, and thrives in ambiguity
Solid understanding of software engineering such as microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization; Experience building enterprise systems using Python, .NET, C#, Angular, SQL and Azure is preferred
Strong Python skills and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit‑learn) is preferred with excellent analytical skills
