NDDOT Starting Salary:
$7,967 / month
Responsibilities The Highway Maintenance Superintendent plays a vital role in coordinating, planning, and budgeting the district's maintenance program. You will oversee operations, prioritize maintenance activities, and support budget analysis to optimize fund allocation.
Recommend and implement improvements to current maintenance procedures.
Determine and assign most efficient methods, equipment and appropriate materials for maintenance.
Develop quantity estimates for budgeting purposes.
Respond to emergency situations by dispatching crews and equipment.
Monitor field forces to ensure compliance with accepted procedures.
Follow safety guidelines as established in department safety manual.
Monitor safety violations and take appropriate action. Ensure that all employees follow leave policies and report to work according to schedule.
Coordinate and maintain daily road reporting system during winter months.
Collect, assess and enter information received from field forces to ensure compliance.
Maintain effective working relationships with department personnel, suppliers, contractors, FHWA and public to prevent predictable problems.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires an associate degree in engineering technology and five years of highway experience; two years of the experience must have included supervision duties.
Work experience performing highway maintenance activities may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Requires work after hours, on weekends, and holidays during emergency events. Will be at times required to report to work within 30 minutes during emergency or storm situations.
Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and the required drug test, medical screening, reference check and driving records check.
