Audio Visual (AV) Installation Technician

Audio Visual (AV) Installation Technician – VersaTech, Inc.
Base pay range: $60,000‑$80,000 per year
Location: Washington, DC Metro Area (up to 10% travel with notice)
Time Allotment (Approximate)
Installations and On-Site Integrations: 60%
Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs): 30%
Documentation, Coordination, and Client Interaction: 10%
Responsibilities
Perform Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) and generate service documentation
Install and integrate commercial AV systems across conference, briefing, and training environments
Pull, terminate, label, and test structured cabling for AV signal and control
Mount and install displays, microphones, speakers, cameras, projectors, and rack equipment
Assist with system staging, rack build-out, and device configuration
Load and verify DSP, control system, and firmware updates as directed
Interpret AV drawings, wiring diagrams, risers, and cable schedules
Document redlines and as-builts for project closeout
Support system commissioning and provide basic user walkthroughs
Travel throughout the DMV region as required
Qualifications
CTS Certification is required
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
4+ years installing commercial AV systems
Strong understanding of AV signal flow, terminations, and device configuration
Experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Poly, Cisco, and similar systems
Ability to read and work from architectural plans and AV system drawings
Clear professional communication with clients and teammates
Ability to train and support junior installers
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 75 pounds
Stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work overhead as needed
Preferred Experience
Prior support of government clients or work within federal contracting environments
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or 4 years relevant experience in lieu of degree
