As the Director of Data Center Construction, you will play a pivotal role in the early stages of our data center projects, ensuring that they are set up for success from the outset. Your leadership will be crucial in developing and implementing construction strategies that align with our long‑term organizational goals. You will lead the construction phases in conjunction with the project management team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Your role will be critical to the planning, design, and budgeting phases of complex construction projects, ensuring they are feasible, schedule‑driven, cost‑effective, and aligned with our quality standards.

The position requires occasional travel, up to 50% at times. This role is remote/work‑from‑home eligible and includes the full Oracle benefits package.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long‑term pre‑construction strategies for data center projects to align with organizational goals.

Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any concerns.

Project Constructability: Oversee the planning and design phases of data center projects, ensuring feasibility and alignment with quality, budget, and schedule.

Budget Oversight: Develop and manage pre‑construction budgets, ensuring cost‑effective use of resources and adherence to financial constraints.

Innovation and Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance data center performance and sustainability.

Continuous Improvement: Track lessons learned to drive continuous improvement and ensure best practices are implemented across all projects.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and costs.

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the project team, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance work environment.

Vendor Management: Select, negotiate, and manage contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project success.

Compliance and Standards: Ensure all pre‑construction activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.

Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control processes during the pre‑construction phase to ensure the highest standards of planning and design.

Skills Required

Industry Knowledge: Thorough understanding of data center budgeting, cost effectiveness, standard pricing, and the relationship between budget and schedule.

Data Center Industry Relationships: Existing positive industry relationships and ability to build new ones to support pre‑construction efforts.

Budget Process: Organize, evaluate, explain, and track baseline budgets from project conception to closeout.

Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and implement long‑term strategies that align with organizational goals.

Project Management Expertise: Overseeing the planning, design, and budgeting phases of complex construction projects.

Leadership: Strong leadership skills to mentor and guide a team of pre‑construction professionals.

Vendor Management: Proficiency in selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with external vendors.

Budget Management: Experience developing and managing budgets, ensuring cost‑effective use of resources.

Risk Management: Ability to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for schedule and budget.

Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.

Communication: Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder interactions.

Quality Assurance: Expertise in implementing and overseeing quality control processes.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Ability to stay abreast of industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions.

Qualifications Certain US customer or client‑facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.

US: Hiring Ranges –

$139,400 – $291,800 per year . Employees may be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
