To support the mission, Tesla Engineering is looking for an engineer who is passionate about system integration and validation to ensure seamless hardware and firmware performance across our global Supercharging network. Ideal candidates would share our value of fast iteration, deep collaboration, and hands‑on innovation as they help us expand the most advanced charging network in the world.
What You’ll Do
Own the end‑to‑end integration of hardware and firmware across Tesla’s Supercharger products
Lead validation of hardware controls and system‑level functionality for new Supercharger products (including hardware design/control validation, board debugging, root‑cause analysis and hardware/firmware regression testing)
Develop and execute test plans to validate functions, features, and system performance
Work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure functional, performance, and safety requirements are successfully achieved
Collaborate with network operations and deployment teams to validate performance at scale
Conduct failure analysis to understand root cause and drive resolution for failures originating in testing and from the field
Drive continuous improvement in design and performance by providing direct and accurate feedback to design owners
Debug and fix hardware and firmware issues on complex, high power/high voltage products
Hands‑on with hardware bring‑up and prototyping
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in electronic hardware integration and/or firmware integration
In‑depth understanding of HV power electronic components (active and passive) and expertise in developing associated characterization/validation testing methods
Strong understanding of device characteristics, power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC), thermals design/control, embedded firmware design/testing, system testing methodologies, and test plan development of mechatronic systems
Ability to develop in Python and read and debug C/C++
Proficiency with basic EE tools (scopes, network analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads)
Exceptional analytical problem‑solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex hardware/software systems
Preferred:
Experience with inverters, EV batteries, HV controls, and/or industrial grid codes
Testing/Calibration experience in Vehicle or EVSE fields
Experience working with DC Fast charging systems/features (e.g., high‑voltage DC busses, DC isolation monitoring, grid‑tied systems, network diagnostics, CAN communication, PLC, Modbus, TCP/IP protocols, etc.)

Expected Compensation $133,440 – $292,800 / annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
