Base pay range $97.75/hr – $156.40/hr

Responsibilities

Assemble necessary supplies and equipment, and administer intravenous, spinal, and other anesthetics prior to surgical or other medical procedures.

Monitors patients' reactions and vital signs during and after anesthesia, takes remedial action when warranted, submits postoperative reports, and maintains records of anesthetics administered.

Provides anesthesia services (general, regional, monitored anesthesia care), including induction, maintenance, support of life functions, recording all pertinent events, recognizing and taking corrective action for abnormal responses, and providing professional observation and resuscitative care until patients regain control of vital functions.

Performs pre‑anesthesia functions, such as confirming appropriate pre‑anesthetic examination, ensuring relevant tests have been completed, reviewing the patient's condition immediately prior to induction, and checking readiness, availability, and cleanliness of all equipment.

Performs post‑anesthesia duties, including remaining with the patient until it is safe to transfer care, advising personnel of specific problems, administering postoperative epidural pain relief and other analgesia, and making post‑anesthetic visits regarding potential complications.

Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution.

Responds to life‑threatening, Code Blue/Code 4 and respiratory emergencies when available, establishing and maintaining an airway under physician direction; assists nursing units with difficult IV insertions when requested.

May administer anesthesia under the supervision of the operating surgeon; may provide labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center.

Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, current practice and applicable standards.

May participate in departmental improvement processes and ASC processes when appropriate.

Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties requiring lifting and pushing/pulling, using proper technique.

Scheduled Hours Mon – Fri. No call. No holidays. No weekends. Primary site: AMCMP and Racine Surgery Center.

Licenses & Certifications

Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.

Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA) issued by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state of Wisconsin.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). Must be obtained within 6 months unless exempt.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). Must be obtained within 6 months unless exempt.

Degrees Master's Degree in Nursing.

Required Functional Experience No experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must be able to fulfill department schedule needs, which may include 24/7 call and weekend coverage as needed.
