$97.75/hr - $156.40/hr Major Responsibilities Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients. This includes induction of anesthesia, maintenance at required levels, support of life functions during anesthesia, recording events during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, recognizing and taking corrective action for abnormal patient responses, and professional observation and resuscitative care until the patient regains control of vital functions.
Performs pre-anesthesia functions including confirming a physician-performed pre-anesthetic examination, ensuring relevant tests have been completed, conducting a thorough patient assessment, reviewing the patient’s condition prior to induction, and checking readiness, cleanliness, sterility, and working conditions of equipment used for anesthetic administration.
Performs post-anesthesia duties including remaining with the patient until it is safe to transfer care, advising post-anesthetic care personnel of specific problems, administering post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon, and conducting post-anesthetic visits for anesthesia-related complications.
Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution.
Responds to life-threatening emergencies and respiratory emergencies by establishing and maintaining an airway under physician direction; assists nursing units with difficult IV insertions when requested.
May administer anesthesia under the supervision of the operating surgeon.
May provide labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center.
Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, current practice, and applicable standards.
May participate in departmental improvement processes and ASC processes when appropriate.
Performs patient positioning and transporting duties requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique.
Provides age-appropriate care and demonstrates knowledge of growth and development over the life span; interprets data to identify patient requirements relative to age-specific needs according to department policies.
Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA) issued by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (must be obtained within 6 months unless department leader determines it is not required).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (must be obtained within 6 months unless department leader determines it is not required).
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (must be obtained within 6 months unless department leader determines it is not required).
Education Required
Master's Degree in Nursing.
Experience Required
No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Must be able to fulfill department schedule needs, which may include 24/7 call and weekend coverage, as needed.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Must have functional vision and hearing.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist; up to 20 lbs over the head; and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
Push/pull with 30 lbs of force; perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
Use foot pedals on carts or machines; may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids.
Wear gloves, goggles, and gowns as required.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during the work shift.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
