Pay Range
Base pay range: $230,000.00/yr - $335,000.00/yr
Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or an equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Degree must have been obtained from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
Residency training completed through an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification.
For academic training programs, board certification for faculty status may be required.
Residency must be approved by ACGME, AOA, or, if non‑U.S., followed by at least five years of verified U.S. practice as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) may be appointed under specific conditions (full license, intermittent or fee basis, scoped practice).
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Additional requirement for Medical Director duties: provider scheduling, performance evaluations, day‑to‑day operational needs, precepting learners, participation in management meetings.
Preferred experience: Minimum 2 years of recent experience treating the acute and chronically ill in a full‑time primary care setting.
Physical requirements include the mental and physical ability to satisfactorily perform the duties.
Duties
Provide comprehensive primary care services to a defined panel of patients.
History taking, physical examination, ordering laboratories and diagnostic studies, diagnosis and formulation of treatment plans for acute and chronic conditions within the scope of medicine practice.
Lead a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) consisting of physician, RN, LPN, and clerical associate.
Monitor team performance to assess adherence to VA standards and meet VA performance measures.
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary treatment team (social work, pharmacy, mental health, nutrition, etc.).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
