Position overview As the SW Engineer for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) at Porsche Engineering, you will be driving the software development lifecycle for cutting‑edge ADAS solutions. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks, including architecture definition, prototyping, testing, and integration of ADAS software into vehicle systems. Furthermore, you are working on SW modules for our in‑house suite of SW‑tools for route planning and fleet management. Collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams, both internally and externally, you will ensure seamless integration of ADAS software, leveraging partnerships with local startup and tech companies to identify and harness emerging technologies. Specifically focused on the U.S. market, you will spearhead the development of ADAS functions and tools, aligning closely with customer demands and market trends. Within our ADAS projects you will also manage customer projects and support business development.

The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $177,000 per year. However, it is important to note that at Porsche compensation range is dependent on geographic location. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skillset.

Develop SW for ADAS functions and SW algorithms for route planning and fleet management, including architecture definition, prototyping, and testing.

Foster collaboration with cross‑functional teams to integrate ADAS software into vehicle systems.

Identify and leverage emerging technologies for ADAS and AD development in partnering with local startup and tech companies.

Establish and maintain regular communication channels with customers and development teams located in different locations to foster seamless information exchange and collaboration throughout the ADAS validation and software development process.

Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in ADAS technology to inform future development efforts.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to define, scope, prioritize, and successfully deliver major ADAS software initiatives that span multiple teams and organizations within Porsche Engineering.

Support cross‑functional teams including Systems, Software, Feature, Suppliers, V&V, and Quality to define and execute development plans, ensuring timely software delivery with the highest quality standards.

Facilitate the resolution of technical issues or lead discussions to explore solution options, ensuring timely decision‑making and progress towards project goals.

Communicate project status to a broad stakeholder and leadership community, emphasizing schedule risks and developing recovery plans in case of project delays.

This role is located in Carson, California.

Porsche reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness.

Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 – 5 hour intervals

Comfortable standing and walking for 3 – 5 hour intervals

Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5+ hours)

This job is operated in a port and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, move, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift.

Qualifications Required qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Informatics or Electrical Engineering

3+ years of automotive industry experience in an engineering or related role

3+ years of experience in development and testing of electric control units for vehicles

Strong Experience with and knowledge of automotive systems and vehicle architecture within large automotive group

Experience with associated diagnostic tools to analyze problems in vehicles

Experience with data analysis and engineering evaluations

Strong communication skills; ability to present complex subject matter to a wide range of audiences

Preferred qualifications include:

Advanced degree in Automotive, Informatics or Electrical Engineering

5+ years of automotive industry experience in an engineering or related role

Very good understanding of ADAS Systems and function development

Very good knowledge of vehicle topology and bus systems (CAN, OABR, Flexray…) and communication protocols

Experience with Vector tool chain

Experience with route planning algorithm and automated fleet management

Ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, flexible adapting to various forms of challenges, process oriented and work well within a group

Percentage required travel:

Business fluent in English and German is helpful but not required
