Job Summary
Oversees Catering service operations based out of a commercial kitchen. Ensures events meet company expectations and customers are taken care of. Manages, trains, coaches, and develops a team of 15-30 hourly associates in a union environment.
Salary Salary:
$78,000 - $86,000 per year
Key Responsibilities
Leads catering staff in pre‑planning, execution, and breakdown of daily events
Coordinates with event organizers to confirm and adjust BEOs as needed
Delegates tasks and ensures the catering staff executes events within the parameters established by the General Manager
Recruits, interviews, and trains full‑time and temporary staff
Provides ongoing training and creates development plans for hourly staff
Identifies service‑efficiency opportunities and implements improved operational processes
Organizes, leads, and motivates the catering team, fostering a positive culture
Plans staff and event schedules as needed
Approves staff payroll as needed
Serves as liaison and coordinator between Event Planners, Culinary, Staffing, and customers to plan and execute events
Assesses event requirements and ensures satisfaction with the services delivered
Performs final review and assessment of catering events to determine if they meet performance and quality standards
Resolves customer concerns in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5 years of hospitality and food service experience required
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
3-5 years of experience in a hospitality management environment (preferably in an off‑premise catering environment)
Operationally savvy industry professional with a passion for managing people, events, and the overall guest experience
Strong organizational, time‑management, and team‑motivation skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Effective use of discretion to problem‑solve in a rapidly changing environment
Experience with hiring, training, and development of teammates in a union setting
Ability to manage in an environment focused on client service, entrepreneurship, and business growth
Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to write simple correspondence; to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications Food Handler’s Permit & MAST Permit; ServSafe training and certificate as required by applicable state and county; valid driver’s license required.
