Business Development Manager (Pharmaceutical and Medical Packaging)

Scope / Purpose
This Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the new business and global customer account development efforts in successfully identifying, and implementing profitable growth strategies through accurate and timely competitor analysis, pro‑active customer and consumer needs analysis and through thoughtful and orchestrated coordination with Sales, Operations, Product and Process Research and Manufacturing. All the responsibilities and activities of this position focus on growth opportunities for the Business and long term, sustainable profitability. This position Reports to the Global Head of Sales, Barrier Protection Systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Customer relationship management:
Develop and implement Sales growth of the Pharma Delivery Systems business segment in the Barrier Protection Systems business unit
This includes pricing analysis, contract negotiation and team direction for expectations needed to drive growth
Target emphasis on the Global Pharma account market segment and pharma company leaders
Establish consistent process for developing, maintaining and delivering new and existing sales growth strategies that deliver positive business results.
Proactively analyze competition, industry trends and landscape to ensure path forward
Develop and implement proactive strategies to increase profitable growth in support of Division and company objectives.
Ensure the BPS leadership is updated across all business segments
Interface with other sales team account managers and project teams to gather critical information used in setting strategic direction for specific account growth
Work with the Finance leadership to identify and pursue profit optimization opportunities
Challenge and develop business models to maximize return on investment.
Deliver growth through business incubation:
Create and develop viable pipeline of new and/or enhanced products and applications to stimulate business growth.
Aggressively manage development of ‘New’ business opportunity pipeline
Specific Skills Required
Is able to build internal and external relationships with a networking ability and influencing skills
Excellent business acumen and financial analysis skills with strong strategic and implementation skills and an ability to determine trends, gaps, and identify actionable solutions to ensure sales growth
Able to interpret financial data and apply financial tools to see trends, implications for costs and benefits
Expertise in analysis and project management skills needed in development and management of a business plan
Change Agent. Recognizes links and communicates information and opportunities
Critical thinker: Able to challenge the accepted thinking and propose change
Creativity needed in generation of new product/business ideas
Able to recommend alternatives and actions to maximize revenue and profitability and further the goals of the business
Able to travel domestically and internationally Up to 50%
Experience Required
Pharmaceutical and Medical packaging experience preferred
Direct Sales, Commercial and Technical experience in line management, marketing and strategic roles
Undergraduate college degree, with an MBA preferred (or equivalent work experience)
Over 7 years of proven success in outside sales within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, leveraging a strong foundation in materials science to deliver technically informed solutions, optimize product performance, and build trusted partnerships with healthcare professionals.
Strong interpersonal skills, focusing on communication, leadership and effective collaboration
Salary: $140,000 to $160,000 DOE + Bonus
