Performs specialty and routine maintenance, housekeeping and custodial work involving the care and maintenance of municipal buildings/facilities. Work procedures are specific and duties are performed on a scheduled day-to-day basis. Responsibilities:

Sweeps and mops floors. Strips and waxes floors. Dusts and polishes furniture. Washes windows and woodwork. Cleans bathroom toilets and sinks. Replaces paper supplies and soap in restrooms. Empties waste baskets. Sets up and takes down tables, chairs, platforms, podiums, etc. for meetings. Moves office furniture and equipment. Locks and unlocks buildings/facilities. Does small repair jobs. Does small plumbing repairs. Driving of City vehicles (a valid driver’s license is required). Performs related functions as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of and skill in the use of specialty and routine custodial tools and equipment. Ability to carry out both written and oral assignments with minimum instructions. Requires walking short distances, frequent standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, bending, lifting up to 30 lbs., carrying/pushing/pulling up to 30 lbs., good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination, good eyesight, working periodically in adverse conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.). Required Qualifications:

High school graduate or GED. One year of experience in custodial or facility maintenance work. General knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in custodial and maintenance work. Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period. Essential Physical Skills:

Acceptable eyesight (with or without corrections). Acceptable hearing (with or with hearing aid). Able to lift and or carry weights of thirty pounds repetitively. Sitting, stooping, reaching, bending, and climbing. Walking or standing for periods of time. Able to exert up to thirty pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be physically able to operate a variety of custodial tools and equipment such as mops, brooms, brushes, vacuums, and any other equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks. Must be physically able to operate a variety of specialty floor maintenance equipment. Environmental Conditions:
